Psalm 4: Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Psalm 4: Great Smoky Mountains National Park
A Black Bear Visited Us!

Answer me when I call to you,

my righteous God.

Give me relief from my distress;

have mercy on me and hear my prayer.

How long will you people turn my glory into shame?

How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? v

Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself;

the Lord hears when I call to him.

Tremble and do not sin;

when you are on your beds,

search your hearts and be silent.

Offer the sacrifices of the righteous

and trust in the Lord.

Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”

Let the light of your face shine on us.

Fill my heart with joy

when their grain and new wine abound.

In peace I will lie down and sleep,

for you alone, Lord,

make me dwell in safety.

The New International Version (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2011), Ps 4:1–8.

Theme: Relationship with God

Best Verse: 4 "Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent."

Command: Tremble: search your heart; be silent

Sin to Avoid: Sin!

Promise to Claim: --

Application to Make: Be in relationship with God

Something New About God: Tremble! God is great.

Reflection: God is awesome and I should realize that and tremble. God created everything and is all powerful. He has authority over me, Jesus is my Lord. I should ponder my relationship with Jesus - I must search my heart each morning during quiet time and be silent to listen for God's voice. During my quiet time prayers I will admit my sins and seek God's forgiveness and seek to hear his voice.

That's Luke in the Hammock with the Black Bear Behind Him!

Great Smoky Mountains: A black bear visited my campsite right before I got up. As I came down the ladder my neigbors came running over and told me all about it. Luke was in the hammock and it gave him a good snif but Luke slept through it. We'll all be in the tent tonight! Yesterday we drove Cade's Cove Loop and hiked to Abrams Falls. We saw five black bear - two on the trail, three from the car. The kids were exhausted by the Abrams Falls hike but loved it. There were plenty of large centipedes and milipedes on the hike and at the Falls there were two common water snakes and tons of tadpoles. Last night we tried walking to a field to observe fireflies but. the kids expired when we got there. We could have driven to the point where the road is closed - there is a large parking lot there. We saw fireflies and some synchronized behavior, but not a great display. We'll try again tonight.

Tadpoles!
