I am a retired Army lieutenant colonel, Denver Seminary graduate, husband, father, preacher, and ministry leader pursuing a full-time pastoral calling.

After more than 25 years of leading people in demanding environments, God redirected my life toward preaching, discipleship, pastoral care, and the work of building Christ-centered communities.

A Life of Leadership Redirected Toward Ministry

For more than two decades, I led soldiers, developed leaders, planned complex missions, and cared for people serving under significant pressure. Today, I bring those experiences into pastoral ministry with a different mission: to preach the Word faithfully, shepherd people compassionately, and help believers grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

My ministry experience includes volunteer preaching, men’s discipleship, small-group leadership, curriculum development, hospitality ministry, neighborhood outreach, and leadership development. I am especially drawn to churches that value biblical preaching, intentional discipleship, relational ministry, and thoughtful leadership.

Preaching

I am committed to preaching Scripture clearly, faithfully, and pastorally. My goal is not merely to explain a text, but to help people see Christ, understand the truth of God’s Word, and respond with faith and obedience.

In practice: Volunteer preaching at Cathedral Rock Church, including expository messages from Daniel, Psalms, and the EFCA Statement of Faith.

Shepherding

I believe pastoral ministry is personal. It means knowing people, listening carefully, walking with them through suffering and transition, and helping them take their next faithful step with Christ.

In practice: Led five nine-month men’s discipleship groups, mentoring 26 men in Scripture, marriage, fatherhood, stewardship, moral purity, and walking with God.

Leadership

Healthy churches need leaders who are spiritually grounded, relationally mature, and equipped to serve others. I enjoy developing leaders, building teams, clarifying purpose, and helping ministries move from vision to faithful action.

In practice: Grew from small-group leader to overall leader of a weekly Bible study serving up to 50 participants, developed the Timothy Team, and built leadership systems for hospitality, small-group facilitation, prayer, and weekly ministry coordination.

Daniel remained faithful to God while serving with integrity in a government that did not share his convictions. This message considers how Christians can live courageously, serve faithfully, and trust God amid cultural and political pressure.

Helping People Engage Scripture

I created a Bible reading plan to accompany episodes of The Chosen Season 1, giving participants a structured way to move from watching a dramatized story to reading and discussing the biblical text.

The plan includes weekly Scripture readings, background context, discussion guidance, and an accessible path for believers and spiritually curious participants to engage the Bible more deeply.

This resource grew from a neighborhood-based watch party designed to build relationships, encourage spiritual conversations, and create a welcoming entry point into Christian community.

25 Years of Leadership – New Calling to Serve

I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served 25 years and seven months as a United States Army infantry officer, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. I am also a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School.

My assignments included leadership in combat, command of organizations ranging from small teams to thousands of soldiers, strategic planning, cross-cultural engagement, leader development, and stewardship of significant personnel and resources.

Those years taught me to remain calm under pressure, care for people, build cohesive teams, communicate clearly, and lead with humility, courage, and accountability.

I do not see my Army career as separate from ministry. I see it as part of God’s preparation for the work of shepherding people, developing leaders, stewarding organizations, and serving the church.

Faith, Family, and Life Together

My wife, Tara, and I have prepared for ministry together, and we continue to share a common sense of calling. She has walked closely with me throughout seminary, auditing classes and sharing in our sense of calling.

We are raising three children and enjoy hiking, camping, taekwondo, and exploring America’s national parks as a family. These experiences continue to teach us about perseverance, gratitude, God’s creation, and the importance of building a faithful home.

We believe ministry is not simply a professional role. It is a shared life of hospitality, service, discipleship, and love for the local church.
